Mom's Football 101:
The Brown and Gold Hawk flag was flying high last on August 29th at the annual "Mom's Football 101". This fun event was attended by about 65 Freshman, JV, Varsity and cheer moms. Coach Ingalls and his wife Lynn, as well as Coach Miltenberger Carolyn Miltenberger, Coach Weinberg and Coach Ellis were also on hand that evening. Cocktails and a light dinner were served under a tented basketball court decked out with lots of football shaped serving items, displayed signed jerseys, team pictures, helmets and various Hawk items the Maccabe's have purchased over the years. True football fans!! Barb Maccabe thanked all the women and coaches for coming and reminded them about the important role they play in the success of the team off the field, and then turned the microphone over to Coach Ingalls. Maki Iizuka (mother of senior player Yuki) was introduced in full game gear - she may be little - but she could start for the freshman team no doubt! Looking good Maki!!!
The coaches showed us the offensive and defensive positions, with many moms lined up in the actual positions that their sons play! Lots of questions were asked by the moms. Later in the evening the coaches awarded special Hawk gear to moms who could come up with correct answers to League type questions. One of the best questions and answers....Coach Weiny: "How many years have the four of us coached together?" best answer: "2,000". Coach Weiny - "No, that's just me"!
Many of the women commented that they really learned a lot about football that night and a good time seemed to be had by all who attended.
