The Freshmen Hawks lost a tough game to an undefeated El Toro team 22-8.
The Hawks received the opening kickoff but went three and out.  El Toro fumbled the handoff on their first play.  Alex Salera recovered the fumble giving the Hawks great field position at the El Toro 25 yard line.  The Hawks looked to strike quickly but the ensuing pass play was intercepted by ET.  The Chargers then moved the ball 71 yards and scored on a 12 yard TD run.  The 2 point PAT was good.  The Hawks started their next drive at the ET 42 yard line thanks to a nice kickoff return by Andrew Whitt.  The Hawks moved the ball into ET territory but a turnover killed the drive.  The Hawks' defense stepped up and forced ET to punt.  The punt was downed by ET at the LH 1 yard line.  With their backs to their own goal line, the Hawks moved the ball picking up two first downs.  However, a fumbled lateral pass gave the ball to ET at the Hawks' 29 yard line.  ET then scored on an 11 yard TD run.  The 2 point PAT was good giving ET a 16-0 lead. The Hawks moved the ball from their 26 yard line to the ET 40 yard line but the drive was stopped by the end of the half.
The second half opened with the teams exchanging punts.  After a LH punt, ET took possession of the ball at their 23 yard line.  Using a mix of run and pass, ET scored on a 35 yard TD run.  The 2 point PAT was stopped by the Hawks' defense.  The teams again exchanged punts.  After an ET punt, the Hawks got the ball at the ET 48 yard line.  The Hawks marched the ball to the ET 10 yard line but turned the ball over on downs.  The defense then forced another ET punt.  With time running out in the game, the Hawks got the ball one last time at the ET 47 yard line.  LH moved the ball to the 25 yard line.  QB Connor Landberg then connected with TE Nicholas Harrison for a 25 yard TD pass.  The game ended when Landberg ran in the 2 point PAT.
The Hawks offense was able to move the ball behind the passing of Landberg and the running of Alex Salera, Kai Kanno, and Landberg.  The defense played tough against a much bigger opponent.  The Freshmen Hawks play the Woodbridge Warriors next Thursday at Woodbridge HS
